WooCommerce to Specter – product sync

Last modified:

Activation of the workflow for syncing products from WooCommerce to Specter is currently done with the help of Kroconnect staff.

We do not recommend having product sync active in both directions, to avoid the two systems overwriting each other’s changes without you being aware of it — for example, if two people work in parallel in both systems, or if one of the two systems has a temporary outage that makes the sync take longer than expected. Choose one system as the master.

How the sync works

When a product is updated in WooCommerce, information is sent to Specter. The article in Specter is then updated with the new information. If an article with that specific article number doesn’t already exist, a new article is created in Specter.

A product must have a SKU (article number) to sync. Products without a SKU are skipped and not sent to Specter.

When products are sent

When products are sent to Specter is controlled by the Product sync action setting in the Kroconnect WooCommerce Connector plugin:

  • When a product is updated or created
  • Only when a product is created
  • Only when a product is updated
  • Manually (default)

For variable products, each enabled variation is synced individually and must have its own SKU.

Syncing a product manually

On the product edit page, the Specter Product Actions box has a Sync product button that sends the product to Specter immediately. After a manual sync, you need to wait a few minutes before syncing the same product again.

Product fields that are updated

The following product fields are updated in Specter by default:

  • Title (Benämning in Specter)
  • Weight
  • Price
  • Sale price

The product data to be synced can be modified through a mapping function available in Kroconnect. Here we can map most WooCommerce product data fields to any metadata fields in Specter. It’s also possible to modify or remove the standard mapping.

Sales accounts are changed manually

When you create a new product in WooCommerce and it is automatically added to Specter, you need to manually go into Specter to change the sales account (“försäljningskonto”). The default account is 3051, regardless of the product’s VAT rate.
